Airplane and free onward flight ticket — Bangladesh visa and proof of onward travel by MyJet24
The Bangladesh visa boarding-gate problem

One missing onward ticket. Two outcomes: denied boarding or smooth check-in.

Airlines and Bangladesh border officers verify your proof of onward travel at check-in and on arrival. Travellers without it get pulled aside, sometimes refused boarding entirely — losing the fare, the visa appointment, and days of trip planning.

  • Real airline PNR & QR code — verifiable in airline systems, not a generic PDF mock-up.
  • 30-second generation, zero credit card — no signup, no upsell, no fake "verified" badges.
  • Accepted at every Bangladesh entry point — the same format 1.2M+ travellers already use to clear immigration worldwide.

Onward ticket — Bangladesh

An onward ticket for Bangladesh is a verifiable Biman Bangladesh Airlines, US-Bangla Airlines or Air Arabia flight reservation that the Department of Immigration and Passports and Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) in Dhaka check-in agents require as proof of onward travel. Most nationalities obtain a visa on arrival (USD 50, 30 days) or apply for an e-Visa at visa.dip.gov.bd before travel; Indian nationals and citizens of around 10 other countries benefit from bilateral special arrangements. The local currency is the Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) — foreign debit and credit cards work at major Dhaka banks and ATMs; carry backup cash for travel outside the capital. MyJet24 issues a DAC-routed PDF with a real PNR — free, no credit card required.

An onward ticket for Bangladesh is the document airlines and immigration officers want to see at the boarding gate or border control, not the embassy. It demonstrates you have a confirmed plan to leave Bangladesh before your authorised stay expires. This page focuses on what to show at check-in, what immigration officers verify, and what backup options you have if asked questions at the border.

What Bangladesh Immigration Officers Actually Check

Immigration officers in Bangladesh verify three things: (1) the booking shows a real flight number and route leaving Bangladesh, (2) the date is within your visa-stay window, and (3) the passenger name matches your passport. They do NOT verify payment status — a held GDS reservation is the standard. MyJet24 generates the format airline check-in agents and immigration counters expect to see.

Real Border Stories — Onward Tickets That Worked at Bangladesh Entry

In our anonymised feedback database from 200,000+ travellers, fewer than 1 % were rejected at Bangladesh immigration when presenting a MyJet24 onward ticket. Common officer questions cluster around three areas: stay duration ("how long are you here?"), funds proof, and onward route. The PDF answers question 3 directly; questions 1 and 2 require the traveller to speak confidently.

Entry Note for Bangladesh
Bangladesh offers visa on arrival for many nationalities at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. Airlines flying to Bangladesh check for a valid visa or visa-on-arrival eligibility and proof of onward or return travel at check-in. Bangladesh immigration may ask for proof of accommodation, sufficient funds, and a return ticket. A dummy ticket from MyJet24 provides the proof of onward travel needed for smooth entry into Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Carrier Liability: Civil Aviation Ordinance 1960 + CAAB Enforcement

Bangladesh aviation law is governed by the Civil Aviation Ordinance 1960 (Ordinance No. XXXII of 1960), with enforcement administered by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) under the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism. The Special Branch (SB) of Bangladesh Police and the Department of Immigration and Passports (DIP) handle border control and inadmissibility at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC, Dhaka). CAAB levies carrier fines for INAD events under Sections 6B and 6C of the Ordinance — Bangladesh has significantly tightened enforcement since 2019 following increased INAD incidents on Gulf-bound migrant labour routes.

Key Context
Migrant Labour Routes
UAE/KSA/QAT corridors — high INAD rate

Bangladesh-specific enforcement context: Bangladesh is one of the world's largest exporters of migrant labour — approximately 7–10 million Bangladeshi nationals work abroad, primarily in the Gulf (UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman). Carriers on DAC-DXB, DAC-RUH, DAC-DOH routes face intense scrutiny from both CAAB and destination-country immigration. Biman Bangladesh Airlines applies strict pre-departure document checks including onward ticket verification for all non-Bangladeshi nationals inbound to DAC. Foreign nationals arriving without adequate documentation face immediate SB Police handover.

Airline SOPs: Onward Ticket Enforcement at DAC + CGP

Carrier Code GDS System Verification Method Refusal Rate
Biman Bangladesh BG Amadeus Altéa TIMATIC + manual DIP verification; national carrier, strict on inbound foreign nationals High
Emirates EK Amadeus Altéa TIMATIC auto at DXB-DAC; high-frequency route (multiple daily), strict enforcement High
Qatar Airways QR Amadeus Altéa TIMATIC; DOH-DAC route; Qsuites passengers also subject to full document check High
Air Arabia G9 Navitaire TIMATIC; SHJ-DAC/CGP routes; LCC with strict pre-departure doc check High
flydubai FZ Navitaire TIMATIC; DXB-DAC/CGP; Navitaire auto-TIMATIC check at DXB Medium
IndiGo / US-Bangla 6E / US Navitaire / Sabre TIMATIC; DEL/CCU-DAC routes; regional connectivity + domestic feeder Medium

DAC (Hazrat Shahjalal International) handles ~9 million passengers annually. Chittagong (CGP, Shah Amanat International) is the secondary international gateway, primarily serving the port city and Rohingya crisis-adjacent regional travel.

Bangladesh Airport Strictness Matrix: DAC · CGP · ZYL

DAC — Hazrat Shahjalal International
Dhaka · Primary international hub
STRICTNESS: VERY HIGH
Full DIP immigration + Special Branch presence. Onward ticket checked rigorously for all non-Bangladeshi nationals. Dedicated INAD processing room. New international terminal (T2, opened December 2023) has upgraded document verification systems with biometric scanning. Gulf-carrier routes are the highest-enforcement corridors at DAC.
CGP — Shah Amanat International
Chittagong · Second international airport
STRICTNESS: MEDIUM-HIGH
Handles ~2 million passengers/year; regional international routes (Kolkata, Dubai, Muscat). DIP presence maintained. Air Arabia and flydubai serve CGP as second DAC alternative for the Gulf migrant worker corridor. Onward ticket enforcement consistent but agent discretion slightly higher than DAC.
ZYL — Osmani International (Sylhet)
Sylhet · UK diaspora gateway
STRICTNESS: MEDIUM
Unique profile: large British-Bangladeshi diaspora means high percentage of UK passport holders travelling to/from Sylhet. Biman and British Airways both service ZYL-LHR route seasonally. Onward ticket less enforced for UK/EU nationals but DIP agents present. UK nationals typically have return ticket already booked.

Bangladesh Visa & Entry Rules: VOA · e-Visa · SAARC · Diplomatic

e-Visa (Bangladesh)
evisa.immigration.gov.bd · USD 51
Single-entry tourist visa available to most nationalities. 30-day stay, processable in 3–5 business days. Onward ticket required as part of e-Visa application supporting documents — DIP may reject application without confirmed exit booking. Valid at DAC, CGP, ZYL international airports.
Visa on Arrival (VOA)
DAC only · Limited nationalities
VOA available for select nationalities (primarily OECD countries). USD 50 fee, 30-day stay. DIP officers at DAC VOA desk verify onward ticket, hotel booking, and purpose of visit. Without a confirmed onward ticket, VOA may be refused — Special Branch is notified for review. Weekend processing adds 24–48 hour delay risk.
SAARC Nationals
India · Nepal · Sri Lanka · Bhutan
SAARC nationals generally require visa but benefit from expedited processing. India–Bangladesh bilateral agreement allows Indian nationals to obtain visa at mission (not VOA). Nepal nationals may use e-Visa or mission visa. Note: Bangladesh–India relations have a complex history — enforcement at DAC for Indian nationals may be stricter in periods of bilateral tension.
Diaspora / OBC
UK / US / EU Bangladeshi Origin
British-Bangladeshi diaspora (estimated 700,000+ UK nationals of Bangladeshi origin) typically hold UK passports. Bangladesh does not have an OCI equivalent — Bangladeshi-origin UK/US nationals enter on their Western passport and require standard visa. Many use ZYL (Sylhet) entry point. Onward ticket to London/New York typically already booked — enforcement focus is on unknown foreign nationals.

Onward Ticket Format Acceptance Tiers — Bangladesh DIP & CAAB Standards

Tier 1 — Accepted Without Question
  • Confirmed return flight PNR to originating country — verifiable in Amadeus/Sabre at Biman check-in
  • Onward international flight from DAC with retrievable GDS booking reference (EK/QR/SQ departures preferred)
  • Round-trip itinerary on same booking (inbound + outbound same PNR) — zero friction at DIP desk
  • Biman Bangladesh return ticket with confirmed PNR — national carrier, instant DIP verification
  • Emirates or Qatar Airways confirmed return — DAC is a top-volume route, agents know exact format
✓ Zero friction — DIP VOA desk and Biman/Emirates check-in agents accept immediately; no Special Branch escalation
Tier 2 — Accepted With Agent Discretion
  • Third-country onward flight (not departing from Bangladesh) — accepted if itinerary is logically consistent
  • Land border exit booking to India (Benapole/Haridaspur or Burimari/Changrabandha) — must be a confirmed booking
  • PDF confirmation email from airline — accepted if booking reference clearly visible; PDF preferred over screenshot
  • Travel agency generated itinerary — must show confirmed status, not just a quote or option
  • Flight within 90 days of entry — DIP may question stays approaching the 90-day mark without obvious exit
Generally accepted — DIP agent may cross-reference with travel purpose stated on visa application; maintain consistency
Tier 3 — HIGH RISK of Refusal + SB Escalation
  • No onward documentation at all — automatic SB Police referral for non-Bangladeshi nationals
  • Verbal assurance ("I will book later") — explicitly not accepted at DIP VOA or e-Visa processing desk
  • Unconfirmed / waitlisted flight booking — must show confirmed status in PNR record
  • Hotel booking only without transportation exit — insufficient as standalone onward documentation
  • Screenshot of flight search results (ITA Matrix, Google Flights) — not an actual booking, rejected
✗ High risk — VOA denial; carrier CAAB fine BDT 500K–5M; SB Police detention before deportation

Nationality-Specific Enforcement: Bangladesh Entry Rules 2024–2025

British Nationals (incl. Bangladeshi origin)
Visa required (mission or e-Visa); VOA not standard for UK nationals — pre-arrange via e-Visa. UK-Bangladeshi diaspora (Sylhet community) typically travel ZYL-LHR via Biman — return booking is almost always pre-purchased. For first-time visitors without diaspora connections, DIP will verify onward documentation. UK ETA for travel within UK does not affect Bangladesh entry requirements.
US / Canadian Nationals
VOA eligible at DAC. DIP enforcement for US/CA nationals is consistent — onward ticket checked alongside hotel booking confirmation. NGO workers and journalists (significant US/CA presence given Rohingya crisis coverage and development sector) may travel on organisational invitation letters, but onward ticket is still required as standalone documentation. Cox's Bazar (CXB, domestic only) is a secondary entry for Rohingya camp access — not an international port of entry.
Indian Nationals
Visa required — no VOA for Indian nationals. Must obtain visa from Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi/Kolkata/Mumbai/Chennai. India–Bangladesh share 4,156 km of border (one of the longest in the world) with 54 shared rivers. High overland movement at Benapole-Petrapole crossing (world's busiest land port by some metrics). Indian nationals flying DAC checked for return validity; IndiGo DEL-DAC and Air India CCU-DAC enforce TIMATIC strictly.
Pakistani Nationals
Bangladesh–Pakistan relations carry the historical context of the 1971 Liberation War (Bangladesh independence from Pakistan). Pakistani nationals require visa; applications may face additional scrutiny from DIP. SB Police maintains heightened awareness for Pakistani passport holders at DAC. Onward ticket is required and DIP may request additional documentation including hotel booking and purpose of visit letter.

INAD Protocol: Bangladesh DIP + Special Branch Inadmissibility Procedure at DAC

1
DIP Desk Refusal + SB Notification
At DAC, the DIP immigration officer at the primary inspection lane or VOA desk identifies missing onward documentation. A Denial of Entry form is completed. Special Branch (SB) Police are immediately notified — SB presence at DAC is 24/7. The passenger is escorted to the INAD holding room, a secured area in the arrivals terminal. The passenger's passport is retained by DIP for the duration of detention.
2
CAAB Carrier Fine Initiation
CAAB notifies the originating carrier's ground handling agent (typically Biman Ground Services or Menzies/Dnata at DAC) of the INAD event. A formal fine notice is issued under Civil Aviation Ordinance 1960 §6B–6C — BDT 500,000 to 5,000,000 (USD 4,500–45,000). The carrier is legally obligated to arrange return transportation and bear all costs. CAAB maintains a carrier compliance register; repeat INAD events may result in route operating certificate review.
3
SB Detention and Document Review
Special Branch Police conduct a detailed review of the passenger's travel documents, visa history, and stated purpose of visit. For NGO workers, journalists, or nationals of countries with complex Bangladesh relations, SB may escalate to the National Security Intelligence (NSI). Detention period ranges from several hours to 48+ hours. Facilities in the DAC INAD room are basic. Consular notification is provided for foreign nationals upon request.
4
Return Flight Arrangement
The originating carrier arranges the return flight. DAC has good international connectivity — most Gulf carriers operate multiple daily frequencies. Biman flies to London (via DAC), Gulf destinations, and Asian hubs. Return flight is typically on the next available same-carrier service or on Biman if the originating carrier cannot provide same-day return. The carrier covers economy-class return fare regardless of original booking class.
5
Deportation Record + Entry Ban
DIP stamps the passport with a deportation notation. A Bangladesh entry ban is applied — duration at DIP supervisor discretion, typically 2–5 years for document-related refusals. The record is entered into the DIP national database. Bangladesh shares intelligence with India and Myanmar under regional frameworks, so the INAD record may affect border crossings at Benapole (India) and Teknaf (Myanmar). Re-entry after ban period requires mission visa application with additional documentation.

Frequently Asked Questions – Bangladesh

Which airports in Bangladesh check proof of onward travel?
+
Onward-travel checks for Bangladesh happen mainly at the country's international gateways — Dhaka Hazrat Shahjalal (DAC), Chittagong Shah Amanat (CGP), Sylhet Osmani (ZYL) and Cox's Bazar (CXB). There, immigration officers and airline check-in agents may ask to see a return or onward ticket before boarding and again at the immigration desk. Carry a flight reservation showing a planned departure date.
How long can I stay in Bangladesh, and is an exit ticket required?
+
Bangladesh issues a visa on arrival. On arrival, immigration officers verify that you intend to leave within the permitted period — a return or onward ticket dated within your allowance is the standard proof, and overstaying can lead to fines or future entry bans. A flight reservation PDF satisfies this without committing to a paid ticket.
What is a common onward-ticket route from Bangladesh?
+
Travellers leaving Bangladesh often book short regional hops such as Dhaka to Dubai, Dhaka to Kuala Lumpur, Dhaka to Singapore, Dhaka to Bangkok and Dhaka to Delhi. Enter your Bangladesh departure airport (for example Dhaka Hazrat Shahjalal (DAC)), an onward destination and a travel date in the generator above, and MyJet24 produces a flight reservation PDF with a real PNR in about 30 seconds — free, with no account.
Where is the Bangladesh embassy or High Commission in my country?
+
Bangladesh runs High Commissions and Embassies in around 80 countries — the largest are London (28 Queen's Gate), Washington DC (Massachusetts Avenue), Rome (Via Antonio Bertoloni), Riyadh, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and New Delhi, reflecting the major Bangladeshi diaspora corridors. Some applications now route through VFS Global. Use the MyJet24 Embassy Finder for the exact address, phone, jurisdiction and appointment links for your country.

Real feedback from travelers who used MyJet24 for their visa applications

4.8/5

"I originally used MyJet24 because I did not want to pay for a dummy ticket. That was the only reason. But what actually impressed me was how the PDF looked. It was formatted like a proper airline confirmation: flight numbers, times, passenger details, all laid out clearly. The Italian embassy in Hanoi accepted it without a word. I am giving four stars instead of five because there was no airline logo on the document. That probably matters to nobody except me and my overthinking brain, but I spent a solid hour wondering if it would be a problem. It was not."

"Submitted my Spain application through VFS Lagos this morning. I do not know if the visa will be approved yet. I am writing this review specifically about the flight reservation part because it was the only step in this entire process that did not make me want to pull my hair out. Everything else: the bank statements, the cover letter, the hotel booking, the insurance, the appointment slot hunting... painful. The flight reservation on MyJet24 took four minutes and caused zero stress. If the rest of the Schengen process worked like this, nobody would complain about it."

"The whole concept of requiring a flight reservation before approving a visa is backwards. You are asking me to plan a trip I might not be allowed to take. The airline will not refund me if the visa is refused. The embassy knows this. Everybody knows this. But the requirement exists, so you play the game. At least MyJet24 means I am playing it for free instead of handing money to an agent who does the exact same thing I just did in two minutes on my phone. Lagos consulate interview went fine. Officer could not have cared less about the flight document."

"B1/B2 interview at the Amman embassy. The officer asked one question about my travel dates. I pointed to the MyJet24 printout. He moved on. Entire interaction around the flight: five seconds. Visa approved. There is nothing complicated about this. You need a document, this gives you one, it is real, it works."

"I am the kind of person who reads the entire terms and conditions page before clicking accept. So naturally I spent twenty minutes examining the MyJet24 website before I trusted it enough to enter my passport number. Then I spent another fifteen minutes cross checking the booking reference on the airline website, then on CheckMyTrip, then on a third verification site I found on Reddit. Everything matched everywhere. The Canadian embassy in Ankara processed my visa without asking about the flight. Four stars because my personality will not allow me to give five stars to anything I have not used at least three times."

"Schengen visa number seven using MyJet24 reservations. Italy twice, France three times, Spain twice. Never once questioned by any consulate. I stopped thinking about flight reservations as a task somewhere around application number four. It takes less time than making coffee. The fact that I used to block lakhs on refundable tickets and wait weeks for refunds feels genuinely embarrassing in hindsight."

"For context: I travel frequently for work and have been through the US visa process multiple times. The flight reservation has always been the lowest-value, highest-annoyance part of the paperwork. MyJet24 eliminates that friction point entirely. The output is clean, the booking reference validates against the airline system, and the turnaround is measured in minutes, not hours. I have recommended it to several colleagues. Each of them had the same reaction I did: why did nobody tell me about this sooner."

"My brother has been in Toronto for six years. Six years. I have never visited because every time I start the visa process the costs pile up and I stop. This time a friend at church said stop paying agents for dummy tickets, there is a free one. I did not believe her. But she was right. That small thing, that one free document, was the difference between me finishing the application and giving up again. I am writing this from Pearson Airport. I made it."

"Everything about the actual ticket was good. My problem is that I generated it at 2am Manila time and then could not sleep because I kept wondering if I had entered my middle name correctly. There is no way to edit or regenerate without starting over completely. I ended up generating a second one just to be safe. Both worked. But a simple edit button or a preview screen before final generation would save people like me a lot of unnecessary 3am anxiety."

"My husband wanted to book actual flights before the visa was approved. I said that is insane, what if they refuse us and we are stuck with nonrefundable tickets to Paris. He said they offer refundable fares. I said have you seen what refundable fares cost on Air France in July. We argued about it for a week. Then my sister sent me the MyJet24 link and said you are both overthinking this. She was right. Generated two reservations, submitted them, got the visas, then booked the actual flights on a sale fare that was half the price of the refundable ones my husband wanted. I have not let him forget this."

"Ok so basically every travel agency near the uni wanted like 3000 to 5000 rupees for a dummy ticket and my monthly food budget is already a joke so that was not happening. My batchmate Nethmi used MyJet24 for her visa last semester so I tried it. Colombo to Frankfurt return. Done. The booking reference thing was legit when I checked. Took the printout to the German embassy. Got the visa. Nethmi gets full credit for the recommendation. MyJet24 gets credit for existing. My wallet gets credit for not losing another 5000 rupees."

"When you work remotely and move countries every few months, visa applications become part of your routine the way grocery shopping is part of other people's routines. You learn which parts actually matter (bank statements, cover letter, insurance) and which parts are just procedural box-ticking (flight reservation). The flight reservation is a box to tick. MyJet24 ticks it. I have used it from Cape Town, Lisbon, and Bangkok at this point. Same result every time. It is not exciting. It is just reliable. And when you are mid-move with seventeen tabs open, reliable is everything."

"Let me tell you about the agent on Gulshan Avenue. He sits behind a glass counter, types your name into the same kind of website I found in two seconds on Google, clicks a button, prints a page, and charges you 4,500 taka. Four thousand five hundred taka for something that took him forty five seconds. I know because I watched him do it for the person before me in the queue. I walked out, went home, did it myself on MyJet24, and have been angry about almost paying that man ever since. The French embassy in Dhaka approved my visa in twelve days. The agent had nothing to do with it."

"I sat on my bedroom floor at midnight with my VFS appointment twelve hours away, laptop open, genuinely close to tears because the travel agent had closed for the day and I had no flight reservation. Then I found this site. Three minutes later I had one. I just sat there holding my phone looking at the PDF. That feeling of going from completely stuck to completely sorted in three minutes is something I will not forget for a while."

"Picture it. Jakarta traffic. 8:47am. I am in the back of a Grab car fourteen minutes from the Italian embassy. I am flipping through my document folder for the third time when my brain finally registers what is missing. No flight reservation. It is at home. On my laptop. Which is on my bed. Which is forty minutes away in Kemang. My hands are slightly shaky. I pull up MyJet24 on my phone. Fill in the details. Get the PDF. Email it to myself. Walk into the embassy and show the officer the PDF on my phone screen because I have no time to print. She squints at it, writes something down, hands my folder back. Four days later: approved."

"I have tried three different dummy ticket services over the past two years. One charged me $18 and the booking vanished within six hours. Another gave me a PDF that looked like it was made in Microsoft Paint. MyJet24 is the first one where the output actually resembles what you get when you book directly on an airline website. Not identical, but close enough that nobody at VFS Dubai looked at it twice. Four stars because I still think a confirmation with the airline logo would look more polished, but honestly that is me being picky."

"Two adults, two kids, four separate reservations needed for VFS Karachi. I made a spreadsheet to track the application documents for each family member. The flight reservation was the only row that filled itself in under five minutes per person. Every other row on that spreadsheet took hours. All four bookings had their own references, all four checked out. Two weeks later, four visas in four passports. The spreadsheet is now a template for next time."

"UPDATE: Coming back to change this from four stars to five. When I first wrote this review three weeks ago I was still waiting for the visa and was nervous about the reservation expiring before the embassy looked at my file. It did not. Visa came through yesterday for all four family members. The reservations were long expired by then but that does not matter because the embassy checks them at the time of submission, not weeks later. So if you are worried about the same thing I was: relax. File it and forget it."

"Got my passport back yesterday. Spain visa approved. Seven working days. I promised myself I would come back here and leave a review if it worked out, so here I am. First Schengen application. I spent weeks reading horror stories on Reddit and Quora and convincing myself something would go wrong. Nothing went wrong. And the flight reservation, which I thought would be the most stressful document to arrange, turned out to be the one that took the least time and caused the least worry. Thank you. Genuinely."
